MINSTER — The Minster Civic Association will have its monthly meeting at the Wooden Shoe on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m.

Life Members will be honored. All Life Members of the Civic Association are asked to consider attending.

The group has been organizing their historical documents this year. A brief summary of their history will be presented by Greg Bergman. It will start with the Minster Board of Trade (1898 – 1909). It will include the Minster Commercial Club organized in 1909 first meeting in the Minster Loan & Savings building. Attendees will hear how a group of club leaders lead by Vic Baumer transformed the Minster Commercial Club into the Minster Civic Association in 1958.

The association is still seeking recommendations for the Citizen of the Year Award. Please send recommendations to [email protected]. This year’s award winner will be announced at the Annual Civic Association Dinner on Jan. 28, 2017. RSVPs will be mailed out soon and a quick sellout is anticipated this year.

They are also seeking the mate to the one Citizen of the Year Plaque previously created and displayed. They have the second plaque but not the first plaque. They were last photographed at the 1996 Civic Dance.
