SIDNEY — Gary J. Carter, magistrate of the Shelby County Common Pleas Court, recently attended a Council of Delegates meeting at the headquarters of the Ohio State Bar Association in Columbus.

Carter is one of 133 delegates who represented Ohio’s 38,000 licensed attorneys in voicing their concerns and wishes regarding bills pending before the state legislature. One such bill proposes legislation that would allow military service members, along with their spouses and dependents, to continue to drive while stationed in Ohio, using a valid driver’s licenses issued by their home states. Other states allow service members from Ohio to use their Ohio licenses to drive while stationed in their states. Carter, along with a majority of the other delegates, voted in favor of recommending to the legislature that this bill, along with several others, be approved.

Carter stated that he enjoyed participating in the process and that he likes to stay informed regarding pending legislation.
