20-year-old charged in death

SIDNEY — A Sidney woman was killed Friday afternoon and a 20-year-old man has been charged with her death.

According to Sidney Police Capt. Jerry Tangeman, Brianna Wilson, 27, of 630 Fourth Ave., died at Wilson Health after she was stabbed numerous times. Police arrested Riley Barger, 20, of the same residence. Barger has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, a felony of first degree and has been incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail.

Police were dispatched to the residence early Friday afternoon after receiving a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Wilson was transported to Wilson Health by the Sidney Fire and Rescue, where she was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Wilson and Barger were involved in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation where Barger allegedly stabbed Wilson.

The case remains under investigation.
