SIDNEY — Freytag & Associates was started by Ferdinand Freytag in 1929 and the company evolved into a partnership soon after Karl J. Freytag joined the firm following his service in WWII. This past year marked the 91st anniversary of the firm.

Frank Green will start his 15th year with the firm in 2021. He is an experienced architectural designer and provides CAD based expertise for the firm. Frank has a passion for education with an Associate’s Degree in Science from Edison Community College and is currently working on his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Wright State University. Frank lives in Sidney and has twelve children, seven of whom are adopted.
Kevin Straub will celebrate his fifth year with the firm this year. A former contractor and project manager on multiple Ohio School construction projects, Kevin provides project administration and field representation, He also coordinates and prepares project specifications for the firm. Kevin lives in New Hampshire, Ohio, with his wife Carolyn. They have four children Jeff, Corey, Chris, and Becky, thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Amy Schwieterman will celebrate her fifth year with the firm this year. Amy is a talented interior designer with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University. Along with her interior design expertise, she also is a project manager for the firm. Amy and her husband Kyle live in Coldwater and have three children, Libby a freshman at the University of Cincinnati, Luke a sophomore at Coldwater High School, and Kyia a kindergartener in the Elementary.

The Year 2020 was a challenging and stressful year for our firm and employees.
Following a two month temporary closure, the workload rebounded, and several on-going projects were rekindled.
Notable project highlights:
• Ohio Hi-Point Career Center was in the planning process late last year for renovation and addition to their main school facility in Bellefontaine. With the changing economic conditions in 2020, the project scope was reanalyzed. Following scope adjustments, the project proceeded into the design phases. Final design was completed in October, and initial site access construction work was completed in October. Construction on the addition begins in February followed by detailed renovation phases in the existing building over the next two years that will allow the Career Center to maintain classes throughout construction.
• Design is in the final stages for a new Administration and Training Center for the Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services Design in Troy. Site development work was completed the previous year, and construction of the new facility will begin this spring. The building provides new offices for the Tri-County staff and a large training center for agency and community uses.
• Professional services were provided to Shelby County to the City of Sidney for various projects last year.
• Professional services were also provided to Hardin-Houston Schools, Lehman Catholic and Holy Angels Schools.
• A Feasibility Study was completed for St Marks Church in Wapakoneta for upgrade and renovation of their community and classroom spaces.
• Professional design services ranging from master planning studies, building assessments, facility studies, conceptual design, and architectural/landscape architectural design were provided to many private clients as well.
We believe in a rational approach to architecture which results in buildings that fit the environment, are economical in the use of space and enhance our communities. We thank all our valued clients and continue to look forward to new opportunities in 2021.
