SIDNEY — In 2020, Sock & Buskin Players only had the opportunity to produce one show which was in February titled “Same Time, Next Year” directed by Polly Lawson.
“Enchanting Tales,” a youth production, was to be performed in March, but due to COVID-19 was canceled. The group had also hoped to host “Sidney’s Got Talent” and produce “Newsies” which were both postponed.
Busienss Manager Christi Thomas has submitted the following report:
Franklin Streb is the president with Ken Pistone, vice president in charge of productions; Maggie Streb, webmaster and vice president in charge of marketing; Savannah Hostetler, secretary; and Christi Thomas, business manager. Committees include Kevin Frazier-Jones in charge of adult planning; Kimberly Pistone heads family & youth planning; Kathy Streb is in charge of fundraising; with Polly Lawson heading membership and long-range planning.
Membership is open to the public with $10 dues for an adult or $15 for a family. Paid membership receives advance notices of upcoming auditions, shows, and information on other Ohio community theaters. The group likes to meet the second Saturday of each month at 9 am and for the most part in 2020, met outside with social distancing and eventually switched to an online zoom meeting.
With all the renovations being done at the Historic Sidney Theatre and COVID-19 restrictions, some Sock & Buskin members have performed at “Open Mic Night” hosted by Ian Hinz online and a Christmas radio show which was performed online and on 105.5TAMFM.
In 2021, the group hopes to perform a couple of shows, TBA.
Sock & Buskin is a member of the Ohio Community Theatre Association and continues to partner with the Kroger Company for those people who have a Kroger Plus card and sign up via the internet, S&B receives a dollar percentage of your purchases.
