Students receive ‘hands on’ training

SIDNEY — Sidney-Workforce Partnership Career Coach students participated in a job shadowing experience at Detailed Machining on March 6, 2021.

John Bertsch, president and CEO of Detailed Machining, hosted the event and was eager to share “hands-on” opportunities with these students who have expressed interest in a skilled trades career. Job shadowing can play an important role in helping a student determine what careers are a good fit because they provide an up-close, real-life experiences.

The Career Coach programming began in August 2020 and is a joint effort between Workforce Partnership and Shelby County United Way. As career coach, Kelly Edwards provides guidance to seniors aimed to transition them to a full-time job that offers living wages and benefits.
