Dave Ross Foundation established

SIDNEY — Sidney native and Fort Loramie area resident Dave Ross has created the Dave Ross Foundation, a new donor advised fund administered by the Community Foundation of Shelby County. The fund allows Ross to give to various organizations’ causes and projects over time.

“I’m establishing this foundation to continue wide support of the Community Foundation and the greater Shelby County area. This provides me a long term vehicle to make that happen,” said Ross. “As years and even decades pass, this is my avenue to keep doing what I’ve been doing in a more organized, consistent, and methodical fashion. I also hope to inspire others to aid the many great causes within both the Community Foundation and our community.”

Ross is highly involved in local philanthropy, having supported many organizations annually and special gifts to capital campaigns for the Ross Historical Center, the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA and area athletic facilities, to name a few. He has volunteered on boards and committees, including the Shelby County Historical Society, the Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor and Urbana University.

For the past five years, Ross has supported the matching pool for the annual Community Foundation Match Day, which challenges donors of participating organizations to give with a $5,000 match available to each organization. The Dave Ross Foundation will play a role in continuing that support. “My enthusiasm for Match Day increases annually,” said Ross.

The Community Foundation administers more than $47 million in 230 funds that awarded more than $4 million in grants and scholarships in 2021. Since 1952, the Foundation has been helping people create meaningful, lasting impact through charitable giving that targets their favorite causes and organizations.
