PIQUA — Lehman Catholic started postseason play by beating Pleasant Hill Newton 49-34 in a Division IV sectional semifinal on Friday night at Garbry Gymnasium.
The Cavaliers built a 15-11 lead by the end of the first quarter, then used a 12-8 advantage in the second to take a 27-19 halftime lead. Lehman pulled away with a 10-4 advantage in the third quarter.
Justin Chapman led the Cavaliers (15-8) with 20 points while Turner Lachey scored nine.
Lehman, the Piqua Div. IV sectional’s No. 5 seed, advances to face No. 4 Botkins in a sectional final on Tuesday in Piqua.
Botkins 66, Riverside 43
The Trojans controlled a Division IV sectional semifinal on Friday in Piqua.
Botkins led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter, 41-19 at halftime and 52-27 at the end of the third quarter.
Carter Pleiman led the Trojans (14-9) with 26 points while Collin Doseck scored 13 and Jordan Herzog scored 10.
Botkins, the No. 4 seed, advances to face No. 5 Lehman Catholic in a sectional final on Tuesday.
Ayden Clary, Dominick Stotler and Gavin Orsborne each scored nine points.
The Pirates finish with a 6-16 overall record. They’ll lose three seniors to graduation: Warren Shockey, Walker Whitaker and Kaleb Schindelwolf.

Fort Loramie 78, Covington 54
The Redskins built a 19-2 lead in the first quarter and cruised from there to a victory in a sectional opener on Saturday at Garbry Gymnasium in Piqua.
Fort Loramie led 19-6 at the end of the first quarter, 33-22 at halftime and 50-35 at the end of the third quarter.
Caleb Maurer led Fort Loramie (17-6) with 21 points while Ethan Keiser scored 16, Ryan Hoelscher scored 14 and Austin Pleiman scored 12.
The No. 3 seed Redskins advance to face No. 6 Ansonia in a sectional final on Thursday in Piqua.
Jackson Center 47, Bellefontaine Calvary Christian 19
The Tigers cruised to a lopsided win in a sectional opener on Saturday in Piqua.
Jackson Center, the sectional’s No. 1 seed, advances to face No. 14 Fairlawn in a sectional final on Thursday in Piqua.
The Tigers improved to 22-1 overall with the win. No statistics were reported.
