A bad third quarter was too much for Anna to overcome in a 52-49 loss to Indian Lake in a Division III sectional final on Tuesday at Vandalia-Butler’s Student Activity Center.

The squads were tied 21-21 at halftime, but Camdon Tuttle scored all 10 of his points in the third quarter to help lead an 18-9 scoring edge that gave the Lakers a 39-30 lead heading into the fourth.

Drew Doseck scored seven points and Mason Carey scored six to help lead a 19-13 edge in the fourth for Anna, but Indian Lake made 9-of-17 foul shots in the quarter to hold on.

It was the first postseason game for Anna, which had a first-round bye. The Rockets, which were the No. 13 seed in the Dayton Div. III sectional, finish 7-16 overall.

Doseck led Anna with 18 points while Carey scored 13. Hayden Huelskamp added eight and Trey Heitkamp scored seven.

The Rockets will lose three seniors to graduation: Doseck, Huelskamp and Carter Seigle.

Indian Lake, which is the sectional’s No. 11 seed, led 8-7 at the end of the first quarter before the Rockets used a 14-13 edge in the second to tie it 21-21 at halftime.

Caiden Nicol led Indian Lake (13-11) with 21 points. He scored 36 points in a 70-55 nonconference loss in Anna on Dec. 3.
