Crashes

Erica R. Merlau, 19, of Botkins, was cited with operation without reasonable control after a two-vehicle crash on May 8 at 3:12 p.m.

Rachel R. Freeman, 33, of Sidney, was traveling eastbound on Michigan Street and Merlau was behind her. Freeman stopped in traffic and Merlau’s brakes didn’t work, so she swerved to the left to avoid rear-ending Freeman but still side-swiped her. Merlau’s vehicle was towed by Mantor’s Towing.

• Ronald G. Heath, 81, of Sidney, was cited with assured clear distance after a two-vehicle crash on May 8 at 1:17 p.m.

Melissa L. Henry, 45, of Sidney, was traveling westbound on Fair Road and stopped at the red light at the intersection of Spruce Avenue. Heath was behind her and rear-ended her.

• Keenan Michael Johnson, 19, of Sidney, was cited with disobedience to traffic control devices after a two-vehicle crash on May 7 at 11:20 a.m.

Johnson was traveling southbound on Brooklyn Avenue and approached the intersection of East Court Street. Sandra K. Chitwood, 67, of Sidney, was traveling eastbound on East Court Street. Chitwood was attempting to turn left onto Brooklyn Avenue in the intersection when Johnson ran the red light, causing a collision. Johnson’s vehicle was towed by Mantor’s Towing.

• No one was cited after a two-vehicle crash on May 6 at 8:28 p.m.

Sarah Kaye Price, 32, of Sidney, was traveling westbound on Michigan Street at the intersection of Folkerth Avenue. Rickey W. Hickman, 65, of Sidney, was facing east on Michigan Street preparing to turn left onto Folkerth Avenue. Hickman turned in front of Price, causing a collision. Due to conflicting stories from the parties involved and witnesses, no citation was issued.

Price’s passenger was evaluated by Sidney EMS for suspected minor injuries but was not taken to a medical facility.

• Ethan Robert Kiser, 18, of Piqua, was cited with starting and backing vehicles after a two-vehicle crash on May 5 at 8:25 p.m.

Kiser backed out of a driveway on North Pomeroy Avenue and struck a parked car on the side of the road.
