SIDNEY – The Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp. (Land Bank) discussed the status of properties at a meeting on April 18.

The Land Bank had no new donations. There were nine properties in foreclosure, but three of them sold, leaving six properties with the prosecutor, including three in Sidney, two in Port Jefferson, and one in Jackson Center.

The Wagner Building continues to be a focus at these meetings. The grant for demolition and remediation of the Wagner Building has been extended until June 30, 2024. At the time of the meeting the board was still reviewing the bids for the Wagner demolition with the hope that the demolition will be completed by the end of 2023.

Sarah Graves was selected to fill the spot Linda Meininger is leaving. Meininger is retiring; she played a major role in establishing the Shelby County Land Reutilization corporation (Land Bank) and will be honored with a newly created honorary position of Board-Emeritus. Graves brings a lot of knowledge and experience in dealing with the EPA and has a background in demolition and construction.

Treasurer John Coffield reported the total balance for their accounts is $571,723912. This balance includes delinquent taxes of $63,353. Coffield reminded everyone there is a loan from the Shelby County Commissioners for $200,000 included in the balance.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16, at 1:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ meeting room.
