SPRINGFIELD — The Sidney Yellow Jackets boys golf team fell four strokes of advancing to the Division I district meet as a team on Tuesday at Reid Park in Springfield.
The Yellow Jackets finished with a team score of 325 and were led by Carter Wooddell (77), Cj Goffena (80), Jake Scully (82) and Brooks Taylor (86).
The top four teams advanced to district out of the sectional. Troy finished fourth with a 324.
Wooddell’s 77 was good for ninth place overall, allowing him to advance to districts as an individual; the top four individuals not on a qualifying team advance to district.
Tippecanoe won the event with its team score of 298 and had no members score higher than a 78.
Wooddell will compete at Pipestone Golf Club in Miamisburg on Oct. 7.
Fort Loramie, Russia, Versailles girls teams advance to district meet
Fort Loramie finished in second place of the 17 full teams competing in the Division II sectional tournament at Stillwater Valley Golf Course in Bradford.
Loramie finished with a team score of 418 and was led by Brooke Gehret (98), Madison Pleiman (105), Ava Shafer (106) and Kim Billing (109).
The Russia Raiders took third in the tournament with a score of 422. Low scores for the team were Annika Borchers (96), Aubrey Hoying (105), Grace Monnin (108) and Grace Poeppelman (113).
The Versailles Tigers were the fourth and final team to advance to the district meet as a team with their score of 437. The Tigers were led by Ella Porter (92), Brooke Keiser (110), Madelyn Farver (115) and Danielle Francis (120).
Graham took first in the event with a 398.
Riverside Pirates junior Reaghan McDaniel was the lowest individual scorer in the tournament with her score of 78 which allowed her to advance to the district tournament as an individual.
The Pirates finished in 12th as a team with their score of 502.
Lehman Catholic senior Isabel Flores also advanced as an individual with her score of 91 making herself the first Cavalier girls golfer with a district berth.
Lehman placed 11th with a score of 483.
