Shelby County Chamber welcomes new mental health center

SIDNEY — Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce members welcomed new mental health services provider Recovery and Wellness Centers of Midwest Ohio at a ribbon-cutting at noon on Tuesday.

Taking up residence at a Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services-owned building on North Vandemark Road, this new branch of RWC offers mental health services for the residents of Shelby County regardless of their ability to pay.

The mission statement of RWC is “to save lives.”

Jeff Raible, president of the Chamber of Commerce, began the event by welcoming RWC CEO Cynthia Wion and staff to Sidney.

Mayor Mike Barhorst was the next to speak his congratulations to the RWC team.

“Hopefully you can make a difference here in our community, and I pray that is the case,” Barhorst said. “We look forward to your success and the community will look forward to your success.”

Shelby County Commissioner Julie Ehemann also shared her appreciation for the RWC’s introduction to the community.

“We are very confident that you’re going to continue to provide wonderful service and this vital service to our community, and we’re just really glad you’re here,” Ehemann said.

Wion shared her appreciation of the support from the community and her team.

“It’s an amazing privilege to be here in Sidney. It’s been a privilege to bring the existing staff across and make them Recovery and Wellness employees.

“They have the heart and the soul and the passion for this kind of work and that makes them fit into us absolutely flawlessly. So thank you Shelby County,” Wion said.

Offering services such as individual, family and group therapy as well as psychiatric services and diagnostic evaluations, RWC is resource that is offering many different mental health supports for the Sidney and Shelby County community.
