CINCINNATI — The faithful of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati rejoiced May 20, 2023, as Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr ordained seven men to the priesthood. The ordination Mass took place at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains in Downtown Cincinnati. The seven men are Patrick Blenman, Isaiah Callan, Alex Dugas, Stephen Hughes, Jonathan Jergens, Jeff Stephens and David Duy Tran.

Sidney man being ordained as priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — The Archdiocese of Cincinnati will celebrate the ordination of seven new priests — including a Sidney resident — on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The men will be ordained to the priesthood for service to God and the Church. Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr will celebrate the Mass. Within the course of the ordination rite, the archbishop will lay his hands on the men, invoking the authority given by Christ to the apostles to make new priests. The Mass, which begins at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter, 325 W. Eighth St., Cincinnati, will be live-streamed on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati YouTube channel.

Shrine to host St. Isidore Feast Day Mass

MARIA STEIN — The Maria Stein Shrine will host a St. Isidore Feast Day Mass on Monday, May 15, at 7 p.m. St. Isidore is the patron saint of farmers and rural communities. The Mass is an opportunity for people to gather as the growing season begins and ask God to bless labor, through the intercession of St. Isidore the Farmer. People are also welcome to pray along with the Shrine the St. Isidore Novena leading up to the Mass. Daily prayers will be posted on the Shrine’s Facebook page through Sunday, May 14, the day before the St. Isidore Feast Day Mass.

Art show submissions sought

MARIA STEIN – The Maria Stein Shrine is currently accepting submissions for its 13th annual Art Show and Sale being held June 24 through July 7. The event commences in conjunction with the Maria Stein CountryFest and is open to the public during normal Shrine hours.

Cross inspires visitors to Morgan’s Place

SIDNEY — A 16-foot-tall cross was installed as part of the Memory Wall at Morgan’s Place Cemetery on Tuesday evening, April 11. The feature was suggested and built by Mitch Phlipot with steel donated by Albert Freytag.

MARIA STEIN – The Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics will be hosting a special “Behind the Shrine” dinner and tour on Monday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. This unique event will include an in-depth tour of the Shrine with a look at areas not normally open to the public.

Jesus told of a lost sheep, a lost coin and a lost son in the 15th chapter of the Gospel of Luke. He described the diligent search for each and the joy experienced, as each were recovered. Finding lost items is difficult enough, much less finding something you hadn’t previously possessed.
