Wyens celebrate golden date

ANNA — Diana and Bob Wyen, of Anna, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Oct. 7, 2018, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church in McCartyville, a dinner for family and neighbors and an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Parish Activity Center.

Bob and the former Diana Albers were married, Oct. 5, 1968, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Egypt. The Rev. Robert Stock performed the ceremony on a day that was foggy in the morning but became beautifully sunny. Witnesses were matron of honor Rosie (Albers) Cooper, sister of the bride; best man Tom Wyen, brother of the bridegroom; bridesmaids Betty (Albers) Kempfer, sister of the bride, Sue Dolph, cousin of the bridegroom, and Sue Deal; groomsmen Donald Albers and Herman Albers Jr., both brothers of the bride, and Dan Ranly. The couple had met as sophomores in high school.

Bob is the son of the late Irene and Werner Wyen. He has a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Joan Wyen, of McCartyville, and a sister, Barb Monnin, of Minster. A brother-in-law, Marvin Monnin, is deceased.

Diana is the daughter of the late Gertrude and Herman Albers. She has six living sisters and five brothers-in-law, Eileen and Urban Meyer, of Minster, Dorothy and Jim Meyer, of Sidney, Norma Gill and her friend, Bob Wells, of Wapakoneta, Rosie and Dave Cooper, of New Bremen, Betty and Gerald Kempfer, of Botkins, and Peg and Tim Simon, of Houston, and a living sister-in-law, Alfrieda Albers, of Maria Stein. Three other sisters, Rita Seger, Martha Wolters, and Dolores Albers, and three brothers, Don, Herman Jr. and Bob Albers, are deceased.

The Wyens have three daughters and sons-in-law, Jodie and Ted Winner, of Sidney, and Pam and Doug Berning and Molly and Ted Zimpfer, all of Anna. They have 11 grandchildren.

Diana retired from Minster Bank in 20o6. Bob retired from Midmark Corp. in 2010.

The couple attend the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville. Bob enjoys fishing. Diana enjoys vegetable and flower gardening and baking. They both enjoy traveling, following their grandchildren’s sports and volunteering for various church activities.
