Hodges mark 70 years of marriage

SIDNEY — Rebecca and William Hodge, of Sidney, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary at an open house hosted by their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Jan. 30, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Days Inn, 400 Folkerth Ave.

They request that gifts be omitted.

William and the former Rebecca A. Watercutter were married Jan. 30, 1946, in the parsonage of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Witnesses were Ruth Gehrlick and Virgil Giese.

William is the son of the late Gladys Long Waler and Damon Hodge. He has a living brother, Richard Waler, of St. Augustine, Florida. Another brother, Robert Hodge, and a sister, Virginia Waler, are deceased.

Rebecca is the daughter of the late Sally and Charles Watercutter. Her brother, Bobby Watercutter, and sister, Monica Frilling, are deceased.

The Hodges are the parents of a living daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Tom Reier, of Sidney. They have five living grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Another daughter, Connie Sue Gibson, and a grandchild are deceased.

Rebecca retired from Schindler Elevator in 1989. William retired from Bornell Supply Co. in Piqua, the same year. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
