Schmitmeyers mark golden date

VERSAILLES — Connie and Ted Schmitmeyer, of Versailles, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, April 16, 2016, at a Mass of thanksgiving at 5 p.m. in the St. Denis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Schmitmeyer officiating, a dinner for family and invited guests and an open house from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Versailles K of C hall.

Ted and the former Connie Schoenlein were married April 16, 1966, in the St. Rose Catholic Church by the Rev. Clement Goubeaux. Witnesses were Betty (Schoenlein) Broering, Alberta (Schmitmeyer) Pohl, Phyllis (Seibert) Schoenlein, Mary Lou (Schoenlein) Larger, Lester Schmitmeyer, Tom Schoenlein, Paul Schoenlein, John Schmitmeyer and Jerry Bruns.

The Schmitmeyers are the parents of three living sons and daughters-in law, Douglas and Brenda (Voskuhl) Schmitmeyer, and Michael and Leah (Kaiser) Schmitmeyer, all of Versailles, and Todd and Susan (Marchal) Schmitmeyer, of Greenville; and three daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Steven and Angela Ruhenkamp, and Lisa and Brian Winner, all of North Star, and Victoria and Alan Dirksen, of Portland, Indiana. Two other sons, Richard and Scott, are deceased. They have 33 grandchildren.

Ted is a dairy farmer. Connie enjoys gardening, sewing and baking. Together, they enjoy supporting their grandchildren in sporting events, FFA functions, 4-H, band events, fair shows and always keeping the candy bowl full. Through the years, they have been active in the Knights of Columbus and the St. Denis Church.
