LIMA — Barry and Debra Muskus, of Lima, will celebrate 50 years of marriage on June 18 with a Celebration Mass at St. Gerard Church in Lima with a dinner to follow at Milano Café. A celebration dance is planned for Sunday, June 19, in Dayton.

Barry and the former Debra Dietz were married on June 24, 1972, at Immaculate Conception Church in Botkins. The Rev. Robert Bastian officiated the ceremony on the cloudy and unseasonably cool day. Some relatives from New York had problems traveling to the ceremony due to flooding, and the reception that followed at Rhine Hall was so cool that the heat had to be turned on.

Witnesses to the wedding were Karen Foght and Brian Muskus.

The couple met in April 1968 in Anna; Barry was 19 and living in Sidney, and Debra was 17 and living in Botkins.

Barry and Debra are the parents of Cynthia Oakley, of Jackson Center, Jennifer Watters, of Lewis Center, and the late Jeffrey Muskus. They have six grandchildren.

Barry is the son of the late Frank and Ruth Muskus. He is the brother of the late Brian Muskus.

Debra is the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Louise Dietz. She is the sister of Nancy King of Keswick, Virginia, Karen Fogt of Anna, the late Joan Spence and the late Michael Dietz.

Barry is a retired x-ray tech from St. Rita’s. Debra is a retired RNC in the labor and delivery unit at St. Rita’s.

Barry likes to work outside on his rose garden, and is an avid Nascar fan of retired Rusty Wallace. Debra likes to make quilts and work in her sewing room. They both like to spend time with their family and go round dancing and square dancing together.

They are both members of St. Gerard’s Church.
