RUSSIA — Betty and Bill Paulus, of Russia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows, officiated by Pastor Kris Geise before relatives and friends in the Catholic War Veterans hall in Russia, May 21, 2016.
Bill and the former Betty Zircher were married May 21, 1966, in the St. Peter and Paul Church in Newport. The Rev. Cornwell performed the ceremony on a day whose morning showers led to a hot afternoon. Witnesses were best man Jerry Protsman, maid of honor Linda Zircher Veit, Mary Jane Paulus Voskuhl, Margaret Paulus Puthoff, David Veit, Kenny Zircher, and ushers Bernie Zircher and Joe Paulus. The couple had met on a blind date.
Bill is the son of the late Ruth and Stephen Paulus. He has a living sister, Mary Jane Voskuhl, of Russia. Five other sisters, Margaret Puthoff, Agnes Dershem, Rosetta Protsman, Pearl Paulus and Rita Bachman, and five brothers, Marian Paulus, Jerome Paulus, Joe Paulus, Norman Paulus and Donald Paulus, are deceased.
Betty is the daughter of the late Esther and Elmer Zircher. She has three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed Zircher and Sherrill Geer, of Tucson, Arizona, Ken and Peg Zircher, of Toledo, and Bernie and Joy Zircher, of Fort Loramie, and a brother-in-law, David Veit, of Houston. A sister, Linda Veit, is deceased.
The Pauluses have three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Barb Paulus, and Dan and Bonnie Paulus, all of Russia, and Mike and Teresa Paulus, of New Bremen, and two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Matt Burks, of Fort Loramie, and Karol Paulus, of Dayton. They have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Betty is employed by Civitas Media in advertising sales. Bill is semi-retired from Paulus Excavating.
They attend the Houston Congregational Christian Church.
