Roettgers celebrate 50 years

SIDNEY — Nancy and Larry Roettger, of Sidney, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family, hosted by their children, at the Mountain Lodge in Hocking Hills in June 2015.

Larry and the former Nancy Sue Parker were married Sept. 4, 1965, at 3:30 p.m., in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys. The Rev. Howard H. Poetter performed the ceremony on a beautiful, sunny day.

Larry is the son of the late Lois and Merlin Roettger. He has a sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Kevin Kelly, of Minster.

Nancy is the daughter of the late Zoe and Robert Parker. She has a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ann Parker, of Minster.

The Roettgers have three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennifer and Mark Fashian, of Delaware, Susan and Ron Abt, of Loveland, and Christine McKenzie, of Sidney, and a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Roettger, of Westerville. They have 12 grandchildren.

Nancy retired in 2007 after 28 years as a teacher’s aide in Sidney City Schools. Larry retired as a civil engineer from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1999 and worked as a teacher’s aide in the Sidney City Shcools from 2000 to 2011.

The couple attend Sidney First United Methodist and Maplewood United Methodist churches.

Larry enjoys reading and trap shooting. Nancy enjoys reading, knitting, bridge and spending time with their grandchildren.
