Lawsons mark 50 years

SIDNEY — Johnnie V. and Joe Lawson Jr., of Sidney, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Sept. 10, 2016, with karaoke and line dancing with friends and family and a performance by the Dorothy Love Steppers in the AmVets post in Sidney.

Joe and the former Johnnie V. Teague were married, Sept. 11, 1966, at 2 p.m., in the White Oak Baptist Church, White Oak, Tennessee, by the Rev. John L. Douglas. Witnesses were three sisters, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law of the bride and the mother and sister of the bridegroom.

Joe is the son of the late Flora (Lambdin) and Joe Lawson Sr. Johnny is the daughter of the late Mary Tennie (Marlow) and Craig G. “Bill” Teague.

The Lawsons have a daughter and son-in-law, Monica Raina and Jeff Studebaker, of Sidney, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe III and Karla Lawson, of Houston, and Johnny Travis and Patti Lawson, of Sidney. They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Johnnie retired from Copeland Corp., and Joe retired from Gartland Haswell Foundry Co.

They enjoy gardening, fishing, and singing karaoke, especially God’s praises. Johnnie also participates in the Dorothy Love Steppers.
