Pleimans mark golden date

SIDNEY — Ruth and Ralph Pleiman, of Sidney, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Sept. 5, 2015, at a private dinner party, hosted by their children for family and friends at the Sidney American Legion hall.

Ralph and the former Ruth Beumer were married Sept. 11, 1965, in the St. Peter Catholic Church in Fort Recovery. The Rev. C.J. Schuerman performed the ceremony on an overcast day that saw temperatures in the 70s and rain in the morning. Witnesses were maid of honor Rita Pleiman, sister of the bride; bridesmaids Joan Maier, sister of the bridegroom, and Patricia Hoelscher; flower girl Martha Koenig, niece of the bride; best man Larry Pleiman, brother of the bridegroom; and groomsmen Carl Pleiman, brother of the bridegroom, Leonard Klosterman, brother-in-law of the bride, and Henry Hoelscher. The couple had met at a party.

Ralph is the son of the late Henry Pleiman and Marie Heckman Pleiman and the stepson of the late Matilda Holscher Pleiman. He has five living brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Mary Jean Pleiman, of Osgood, Larry and Linda Pleiman, of Yorkshire, Carl and Rita Pleiman, of Fort Recovery, Victor and Peg Pleiman, of Sidney, and Cyril and Lisa Pleiman, of Yorkshire; and five sisters and four living brothers-in-law, Joan and Joe Maier, of Houston, Mary Lou Overton, of Sidney, Monica and Ron Manger, of Botkins, Lucy and Tony Budde, of Seattle, Washington, and Thelma and Joe Green, of Jackson Center. Two brothers, Eugene Pleiman and Patrick Pleiman, two sisters-in-law, Bernice Pleiman and Irene Pleiman, and a brother-in-law, Larry Overton, are deceased.

Ruth is the daughter of the late August and Theresia Wendel Beumer. She has five sisters and three living brothers-in-law, Rosalia and Leroy Larger, of Kettlersville, Sister Marita Beumer, of Dayton, Irene and Fred Rose, of St. Henry, Juanita Klosterman, of Miamisburg, and Rita and Carl Pleiman, of Fort Recovery; and two sisters-in-law, Eugenia Beumer, of Winchester, Indiana, and Linda Beumer, of Greenville. Three brothers, Arnold Beumer, Alvin Beumer and Richard Beumer, and a brother-in-law, Leonard Klosterman, are deceased.

The Pleimans are the parents of three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Kevin Westgerdes, of Kettering, Jennifer and Doug Esser, of Sidney, and Gwen and Jason Stiver, of Sidney; and a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Pleiman, of Centerville. They have 13 grandchildren.

Ruth retired from work in patient accounts at Wilson Memorial Hospital in 2013. Ralph retired from Sidney Tool & Die in 2007.

They attend Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.

Ruth enjoys gardening and reading. Ralph enjoys the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State University football and basketball and Cincinnati Bearcats football and basketball. They both enjoy traveling, playing cards and attending their grandchildren’s activities.
