Couple to celebrate 50th anniversary

NEW BREMEN — John and Marilyn Clune of New Bremen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 26 with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, New Bremen, followed by a dinner for invited guests at the Senior Citizens Center in New Bremen. An open house also will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

John and the former Marilyn Ontrop were married Sept. 29, 1965, at St. Henry Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Higgins officiating. Witnesses were Bonnie (Ontrop) Dippold, Kay (Clune) Hoying, the late Katherine (Laux) Clune, and the late Richard Clune, Donald Ontrop and Ronald Ontrop.

John is the son of the late Alphonse and Agnes Clune. Marilyn is the daughter of the late Vincent and Viola Ontrop.

The Clunes are the parents of four daughters and three sons-in-law, Annette and Steve Feathers of Sidney, Michele and John Rathke of Merrill, Wis., the late Denise Clune, Cindy and James Rollins of New Knoxville, and one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Alicia Clune of New Bremen. They have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John retired from farming and Crown Equipment Corp. Marilyn retired from ODOT. They enjoy their grandchildren’s activities, traveling, camping, biking, cards, and fishing. They ask that gifts be omitted.
