Wuebkers mark golden date

MCCARTYVILLE — Velma and Carl Wuebker, of McCartyville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a Mass of thanksgiving at 5 p.m., April 29, 2017, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCartyville and at a dinner and reception, hosted by their children and grandchildren, for friends and family.

Carl and the former Velma Wermert were married May 6, 1967, at 9:30 a.m., in the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in St. Sebastian. The Rev. Albert Reed performed the ceremony on a partly cloudy day. Witnesses were maid of honor Marita Fullenkamp, best man Robert Wuebker Jr., Mary Schwieterman, George Wermert, Theresa and Urban Holthaus and Ruth Rutschilling. The couple had met at a dance in the Carousel Ballroom.

Carl is the son of the late Henrietta and Robert Wuebker Sr.

Velma is the daughrer of the late Mary Ann and John Wermert.

The Wuebkers are the parents of four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Vicki Wuebker, Scott and Brenda Wuebker, and Craig and Heather Wuebker, all of McCartyville, and Kevin and Rachel Wuebker, of Troy. They have 11 grandchildren.

Velma retired from the Minster Machine Co. in Minster. Carl retired from the village of Minster.

The couple are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCartyville. They enjoy attending their grandchildren’s sporting events, camping and traveling.
