Kerbers celebrate 60 years

SIDNEY — Clara and Louis Kerber, of Sidney, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, at a family gathering in Fort Loramie hosted by their children, Saturday, June 3, 2017, and with a marital blessing in Holy Angels Church, Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Louis and the former Clara Steinke, were married June 6, 1957, in the St. Lawrence Church in Rhine. The Rev. Kaehl performed the ceremony on a nice, sunny day. Witnesses were best man Bernie Sherman, of New Port Rickie, Florida, Dale Fullenkamp, John Market, maid of honor Shirley (Steinke) Fullenkamp, Rosemary (Kerber) Market and Marylee (Ehmann) Spaugy. The couple had met at a dance in Mac’s Place in Botkins.

Louis is the son of the late Mary and Joseph Kerber. He has a deceased brother, Joe Kerber, and two deceased sisters, Dorothy Davis and Rosemary Market.

Clara is the daughter of the late Helen and Ray Steinke. She has a sister, Shirley Fullenkamp, of Botkins.

The Kerbers are the parents of three daughters, Linda Temple and Lisa Shroyer, both of Sidney, and Lori Shark, of Stow, and of two sons, Mike Kerber, of Sidney, and Joe Kerber, of Fort Loramie. They have seven grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Clara graduated from Botkins High School in 1947 and worked at Detget Grain in Wapakoneta before retiring from the auditor’s office as deputy auditor in 1995.

Louis graduated from Holy Angels School in 1947 and from Miami University in 1958. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and retired as production manager from Wagner Manufacturing in 1986.

The couple are members of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney and enjoy camping, reading, gardening and spending time with their friends and family, especially their grandchildren.
