Shermans celebrate golden date

SIDNEY — Roberta and Donald Sherman, of Sidney, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, June 24, 2017, at a Mass of thanksgiving at 5:30 p.m. in the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, a dinner for family and invited guests in the Sidney American Legion, and an open house there from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Donald and the former Roberta Crist were married June 24, 1967, in the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. Witnesses were matron of honor Charlene Crist Kirtley, sister of the bride; best man John Sherman, brother of the bridegroom; bridesmaids Nancy Hamaker, sister of the bridegoom, Nancy Sirch and Judy Santiago; groomsmen James Sherman, cousin of the bridegroom, George Barhorst and Larry Rousseau, and flower girl Letitia Elliott, cousin of the bride. The couple had met at a dance in the Carousel Ballroom.

Donald is the son of Mildred Sherman, of Sidney, and the late Leo Sherman. He has a brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Sherman, of Newport, and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Edward Hamaker, of Sidney.

Roberta is the daughter of the late Loretta and Robert Crist. She has a sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Richard Kirtley, of Lakeview.

The Shermans have three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kelley and Dave Budde, of Maria Stein, Jennifer Sherman, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lisa and Craig Boerger, of Fort Loramie. They have six grandchildren.

Donald retired from Larger Construction Co. as a foreman. Roberta retired as an adiminstrative professional from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The Shermans are members of the Holy Angels Catholic Church.

They enjoy their grandchildren’s activities, family, friends and traveling. Donald enjoys playing golf and woodworking. Roberta enjoys playing cards and is a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
