Roes celebrate 50 years

SIDNEY — Melanie and Robert Roe, of Sidney, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a private dinner with their children and grandchildren.

Robert and the former Melanie Richardson were married Oct. 15, 1965, at 7:30 p.m., in the Church of God in Sidney. The Rev. Charles Anknery performed the ceremony on a beautiful fall day. Witnesses were Charles Roe, brother of the bridegroom, and Betty Richardson, sister-in-law of the bride.

Robert is the son of the late Margie and Roy Roe. He has four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Virginia and Clayton Puckett, and Elizabeth and Geroge Terry, all of Washington County, Virginia, Bertie Dowell, of Culpepper, Virginia, and Sylvia and Mike Puckett, of Virginia; and eight brothers and six sisters-in-law, Carl and Doris Roe, Claude and Evelyn Roe, Charles and Wanetta Roe, Tom and Robbie Roe, and Lonnie and Sandy Roe, all of Sidney, and Johnny Roe, Howard Roe, and Melvin and Teresa Roe, all of Virginia.

Melanie is the daughter of the late Priscilla and Gail Richardson. She has four brothers and two sisters-in-law, David Richardson, of Florida, Jack and Janice Richardson, of Jackson Center, Matthew and Tammy Richardson of Noakmis, Florida, and Doug Richardson, of Sidney; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Pechin and Gail and James Fleming, all of Ocala, Florida.

The Roes have three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jodelle Roe, of Anna, and Shane and Beth Roe, and Chad and Penny Roe, all of Sidney; and a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and T.J. Kloeppel, of Sidney. They have 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Melanie retired in 2014 from American Trim, where she worked for 38 years. Robert retired from the maintenance and production departments of Stolle in 1968.

The couple enjoy boating, fishing, farming and spending time with family.
