SIDNEY — Berniece C. Bonnoront, of Sidney, celebrated her 90th birthday, May 26, 2016.

Bonnoront was born May, 26, 1926, in a log cabin in Rhine, to the late Philomena (Koenig) and George Steinke. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Rhine through the eighth grade and graduated in 1945 from Botkins High School and then from St. Rita’s School of Nursing in Lima. She served as a registered nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital for 25 years and retired from Dorothy Love Retirement Community after 14 years of service. She also was a private duty and home nurse.

Bonnoront was married in 1948 to Edison L. Bonnoront, who passed away in 2006. They have three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Bonnoront and Jonathan and Betty (Accuntius) Bonnoront, all of Sidney, and Matthew and Karen (Pleiman) Bonnoront, of New Knoxville, and three daughters and two sons-in-law, Theresa Douglas, of Sidney, Bonnie and Gus Larger, of Indian Lake, and Candace and Jason Alig, of Botkins. Bonnoront has 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Sodality and a member of St. Rita’s Hospital School of Nurses Alumni Association.

She has enjoyed bowling, playing bingo — especially purse bingo — and playing cards with family and friends.
