Wilbur Behr to celebrate 90th birthday with open house

WAPAKONETA — Wilbur Behr, of Wapakoneta, will celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house, Oct. 4, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m., in the Wapakoneta Knights of Columbus hall, 614 N. Dixie Highway.

Behr was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Sidney, the son of Therese and Henry Behr, who are deceased.

He married Rita Greve Behr and then Bea Everhart Behr, both of whom are deceased.

He is the father of six living sons and four living daughters-in-law, Melvin and Linda Behr, Eugene and Yogi Behr and Norman and Kim Behr, all of Wapakoneta, Nelson Behr, of Columbus, Denny and Karen Behr, of Troy, Jerry Behr of Cartersville, Georgia, and Pat Behr, of St. Marys; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Denny Steinke, of Wapakoneta, and Carol and Dan Hemmert, of Sidney. Another son, Virgil Behr, and a daughter-in-law, Jewel Behr, are deceased.

He has 28 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Behr worked as an auto mechanic at Henschen’s in Jackson Center and also was employed by the Wapakoneta Daily News, the Wapakoneta Machine Shop and the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

He is a former member of Good Sam’s RV Club and the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoys camping, painting, woodworking, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family.
