Heins to celebrate 90 years

SIDNEY — Ruth Evalyn Heins, of Sidney, formerly of Houston, will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house, Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Amos Center at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, 3003 W. Cisco Road, Sidney.

She requests that gifts be omitted.

Heins was born, Nov. 7, 1927, to Lloyd H. and Mary H. (Staley) Knoop, who are deceased. She married Paul Marvin Heins, who is deceased.

She has a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Greg Ward, and a son and daughter-in-law, Paul L. and Lori (Hilgefort) Heins, all of Sidney. She has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Heins graduated from Green Township High School and then Defiance College. She taught in Piqua City Schools at Spring Street Elementary, Sidney City Schools at Whittier Elementary and retired from Hardin-Houston Local Schools. She also worked on the family farm, enjoying gardening and canning.

She is a member of the Houston Congregational Christian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Shelby County Retired Teachers. She enjoys visiting with family and friends, playing bingo and doing word puzzles.
