MINSTER — JTD Hospital Foundation held its 23nd annual Golf Classic at Arrowhead Golf Club in Minster, Ohio, recently.

“We are so appreciative of the strong support from our community, sponsors, and volunteers for this event.” Haines continues, “since this year’s event was held on Sept. 11, we ensured that we included time to celebrate our country, and service men and women who protect us,” Linda Haines, executive director of the Foundation.

The day started with the annual Golf Ball Drop. Golfers witnessed Schmiesing Tree Service of New Bremen drop the numbered balls from their 60 foot bucket truck. Three balls fell into the hole so a second “drop” was performed. Only one ball fell closest to the hole. That numbered ball matched a ticket number held by Mandy Vehorn from Celina. Mandy won the 50/50 split and was awarded $1,860.

Following the observance of the colors by the Minster American Legion, soloist Deb Glaser sang the “Star Spangled Banner” and then led the crowd in singing “God Bless America”. A shotgun start at 9:30 a.m began the 18-hole scramble with 109 golfers embarking out on to the course. Snacks and beverages were served on the golf course followed by a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks at the end of the day.

JTD Hospital Foundation is the fundraising arm of Joint Township Hospital. Proceeds from this event are used to help support Joint Township District Memorial Hospital’s efforts to meet the health care needs of the communities.
