ST. MARYS — Grand Lake Health System recognized more than 100 volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Month with a luncheon, May 3 at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
National Volunteer Appreciation month is dedicated to the many individuals who are taking action and encouraging others in their community to become part of something bigger by discovering and demonstrating their collective power to make a difference. The Grand Lake Health System extended appreciation to current, past and future volunteers for taking their time to support the needs of patients, families and staff. Volunteers give of their time and talents at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital and Grand Lake Hospice. Their age range is from 14 to over 90 with some volunteering for more than 30 years. The volunteers deliver food trays, escort patients and families around the hospital, work in the gift shop, sit at the bedsides of patients, assist with fundraising events and help at community outreach programs.
