Civic group hears presentations

MINSTER — The Minster Civic Association members heard three presentations during their May 29 meeting at The Wooden Shoe

The Minster Area Rescue Squad presented its Hometown Heart Hero Award to several employees of Globus Printing for helping to save a life at Globus Printing.

Kurt Baumer discussed his fund-raising efforts tied to his upcoming Peletonia Bike Race in Columbus. Baumer will match all donations he receives toward the bike race. Proceeds will go to the James Cancer Center. Baumer makes personal donations to a number of local individuals who are fighting cancer and other diseases.

James Wolf, of Ernst Sports, presented an overview of operations. The company has production facilities in Minster, Dayton and Cincinnati and provide service to customers over a large part of the United States. Ernst Sports specializes in short-notice production of event sportswear.

An email from the city manager was read, updating the membership on ongoing village activities.

Brenda Boeke, superintendent of Minster School, discussed the beginning of the high school renovation.

Upcoming events that were noted included a food truck rally on 4th Street, June 2; the Minster Historical Tour to be hosted by the association and the Minster Historical Society, June 22; and the association golf outing, July 27.

The next association meeting will be Aug. 28, at the new Minster (now Fox) Distributors building.
