Rethman named December teen

SIDNEY — The Sidney Noon Kiwanis Club has named Jake Rethman the December 2018 Teen of the Month.

Rethman is a senior at Fort Loramie High School with a 4.0 grade point average, ranking first in his class.

He is the son of Brad and Ann Rethman, of Fort Loramie.

His academic activities, honors and awards include being president of the Mathletes, playing in the band and being president of the National Honor Society. He participates in Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, Academia and Student Council. He is a class officer and attended Buckeye Boys State Rep. Rethman was the 2017-2018 Science Student of the Year and was selected to attend the HOBY Leadership Conference.

His extracurricular, community activities and honors include Loramie Student Volunteers, volunteer at Agape, cross country, track and youth ministry. Rethman was Most Valuable Player for all four years of high school in cross country. During that time, he qualified for the OHSAA state meet in both cross country and track. Furthermore, he was a leader on the 2016 cross country team that were state champions and a leader on the 2017 4×800 team that finished third in the state.

He plans to attend the Ohio State University to study biomedical engineering.
