Washington Township elects officers

LOCKINGTON — The Washington Township trustees recently met for the annual reorganization business.

Randy Schwable was elected chairman of the trustees. Douglas K. Stangel was elected vice chairman. Richard E. Feight will serve as overseer of Beechwood Cemetery.

The trustees have agreed to meet on the third Monday of each month, starting Jan. 21, at 7 p.m., in the Washington Township house. The special session – closing meeting will be Dec. 27 at 6 p.m.

The reorganization meeting for the Zoning Board of Commissions will be Jan. 24 at 7 p.m., and the reorganization meeting for the Zoning Board of Appeals will be Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m

Most of the rates and fees are unchanged from 2018. Changes voted for include the following: zoning amendments and appeals, $400 (first two meetings); cremation with vault fees, $250 for weekdays, $300 for weekends; cemetery stone foundation fee, $40 per cubic foot.

Trustees reported that the culvert and bridge inspection was completed Jan. 4, and the inventory report, along with the inspection report, was filed with the Shelby County Engineer’s office.
