Community Association seeks fair food booth help

HOUSTON — The Houston Community Association trustees are beginning to plan for the food booth at the Shelby County Fair in July. A special meeting will be held on May 30, at 7 p.m., for trustees and those who are interested in assisting with the food booth. A chairperson is needed for booth planning, and volunteers are also needed to work shifts while the booth is open. Help is needed to secure these positions, as well.

In other business, trustees have reviewed the scholarship applications received and will name recipients soon.

Houston High School students, who have plans to attend college, can begin or add to their volunteer hours for the Community Association by working a shift or two at the fair food booth. Each applicant must meet a requirement of volunteer hours to be eligible for up to a $500 scholarship.

Additionally, trustees are needed. Those interested in becoming a Houston Community Association trustee are encouraged to attend the May 30 meeting. All questions can be answered during this time.

The Houston Community Association building is available for rent; anyone interested may call Trisha, at 937-638-6238.
