Quincy Council accepts 2 resignations

QUINCY — Two resignations were accepted during the Feb. 21 meeting of Quincy Village Council.

Brian Carpenter submitted his resignation from council. He said the meeting dates are conflicting with training he is taking.

Jeff Clevenger resigned as the joint sewer plant operator because he has accepted a fulltime job elsewhere.

Both positions will be received and resumes accepted for interview. Resumes should be submitted to P.PO. Box 126, Quincy, OH 43343.

The 2017 appropriations were presented to the council for review and final approval. The total amount of the 2017 appropriations is $762,050.63. Of the total appropriations $182,527.74 belongs to the General Fund.

Lucie McMahon was present representing the Community Development Council (CDC). She will be working with the Village of Quincy Council regarding the availability of a $500,000 grant for improvement in the village. This grant will take work for both the council and residents of the village. Ideas will need to be presented on how these funds can be spent and ideas of residents would like to see done in the village.

A door-to-door pass out will be presented by Friday, March 3, 2017, and attendance at the next Council meeting will be welcomed.

This is a no matching fund grant but participation from the community is expected. The application for the funding is due by the end of June 2017 with the project award granted and the project starting

within two years. A survey for the community will be received and needs to be returned as quickly as possible. Further information will be provided as the project moves forward.

The Quincy-Miami Township is researching an upgrade to security to the building housing the department. Several upgrades are planned.

An investigation into costs and the types of security available will be done and as much work that can be done by the department will be done. The matter was tabled pending the costs being researched.

Solicitor, Steve Fansler, presented a copy of the final draft of a village of Quincy handbook. Council review the final draft and move forward with accepting the handbook.

The village received a certificate notifying it that they are legally a part of the aggregation program. The search for the best electric rates has started and is close to being finalized.

Council discussed problems at the Finfrock Park. Ruts are being made on the ball diamonds, soccer field and vandalism of items at the park are being discussed and how to proceed in correcting the problems. At that time a discussion of patrolling was again discussed and the hours that seem to be a problem.

The Bikes for Tikes program will be traveling through the village on April 8, 2017. Quincy again will supply a rest stop for the group with restrooms and refreshments on their travel to Bowling Green University.

Council’s next meeting will be March 7, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
