ANNA — The Anna American Legion Post 446 has selected Trevor A. Frey, son of Ellen and Alan Frey, of Wapakoneta, and Logan Cathcart, son of Tina and Scott Cathcart, of Anna, to participate in the 2017 American Legion Buckeye Boys State in June.

Frey is a junior at Botkins High School. Cathcart is a junior at Anna High School.

Buckeye Boys State is an eight-day education program on Ohio government. Each participant becomes a part of the operation of a mythical 51st state’s local, county or state government.

During the program, participants are exposed to the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective, practical and nonpartisan, with city, county and state government operated by students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, a band and recreation.

This year’s event will be June 11-18 on the campus of Miami University in Oxford.
