BOTKINS — Botkins’ Board of Education members discussed and made changes to personnel during their regular session, July 11, at 7 p.m.

The board approved contracts for Jeff McPheron, superintendent, starting Aug. 1, 2018; Annette Hensley, school nutrition supervisor, at a salary of $35,000, and given a per diem contract for days needed in July; Kirsten Martinez, part-time elementary guidance counselor/additional guidance support, on an interim contract up to 10 days as needed at the 2016-17 per diem rate.

They also hired the following substitute teachers for the 2017-18 school year at a rate of $90 per day: Logan Pitts, Whitney Rogers, Alexandra Fisher, Becky Walters, Kristen Hollis, Jennifer Luebke, Mark Vaughn, Samantha Riffell, Amanda Hellwarth, Jessica Nichols, Karen Christman, Robert Reed and Rick Russell.

The board further hired the following nonteaching substitutes for the 2017-18 school year: Rita Monnin, secretary/aide; Donna Bogart, janitor; Scott Nanik, Chad Berning, Robert Reed, Dan Knoop and Brad Bergman, bus drivers; Emily Gill, Jeanie Bergman and Mary Lou Pitts, cafeteria workers.

The board then moved to accept the resignation of Gina Rogers, who was elementary principal and intervention coordinator. She will leave her position, July 31. They also accepted the resignation of Donna Bogart from her position in the cafeteria, effective immediately.

They approved the bus routes and authorized the superintendent to make changes as necessary, and they set the graduation date for next year as May 27 at 1:30 p.m.

The board ruled that the transportation to Sidney Christian Academy is impractical, and the board will hire Joe Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swartz, in lieu of providing such services.
