ConForm to have second round of layoffs

SIDNEY — For the second time in three months, the parent company of the Sidney manufacturer ConForm Automotives has notified the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services that it will lay off employees, effective Sept. 29.

In April, Jessica Palladino, a corporate human resource director, said in a press release that the cuts were because of size reduction.

“Due to a large loss of business from a customer, ConForm Automotive has found itself in a position of needing to realign and reduce the size of our workforce. We are saddened to report that these difficult business decisions will have a lasting impact on our most valuable asset, our employees,” the press release said.

The cuts will effect only the 1630 Ferguson Court location, and is expected to be permanent. The April cuts affected the same location and were effective July 1. Total, ConForm will layoff approximately 76 employees.

Positions affected by the layoffs include T-form operators, quality auditor supervisors, forklift operators, warehouse supervisors and others.

A WARN letter is required by state law to be sent to Job & Family Services if more than 50 employees are to be laid off.

ConForm has a second location in Sidney at 250 S. Stolle Ave.

The headquarters of ConForm Automotive is located in Bingham Farms, Michigan. It has other companies in Shelby Township, Michigan, Lansing, Michigan, Sumter, South Carolina, Auburn, Maine, and Saltillo, Mexico.
