Power outages hit Shelby County

SIDNEY — More than 700 Shelby County DP&L customers woke up, Friday, without power.

A storm hit the area at around 7 a.m., and falling trees in the Sidney area damaged lines and disrupted power distribution.

Mary Ann Kabel, director of corporate communications at DP&L, said that more than 18,000 people in their service area lost power because of the morning’s storm, primarily in Darke, Montgomery and Green counties. By 3 p.m., Friday, 3,000 customers remained without power, including 48 customers in Shelby County.

“Crews are working as quickly and as safely as they can,” Kabel said. “We expect power to be on for most costumers by evening.”

Information about outages can be found on DP&L’s website, dpandl.com/customer-service/outage-center. Outages can be reported to 877-468-8243.
