Amburgey arraigned on charges related to fatal crash

SIDNEY — A man who was driving a car involved in a fatal car crash on June 29 was arraigned on Monday, Aug. 28.

Chadwick Amburgey, 36, 4873 State Route 29, was arraigned on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, operating a motor vehicle with a specified concentration of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle with a specified concentration of alcohol. He entered a plea of not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.

His indictment says that he was driving while under the influence of cocaine and marijuana and had a blood alcohol concentration of .104. He is charged with the death of Michael Vest, 35, of Conover, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County coroner.

According to a press release from the Sidney Police Department, Amburgey was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala at 11:12 p.m., June 29. He was traveling westbound on state Route 47, when he struck a minivan which was in the process of making a right turn from Royan Avenue onto state Route 47.

After striking the minivan, Amburgey’s vehicle hit the guardrail. The vehicle came to rest on the right side of state Route 47. There were three occupants in the Impala, including Vest.

The minivan was driven by Stephanie Dowty, 27, of Piqua. There were four individuals in her vehicle.

Other arraignments were:

• Mitchell Regula, 43, 9101 Tawawa Maplewood Road, two counts domestic violence. He entered a plea of not guilty, bond was set at $5,000 and a no contact order was issued.

• Russell Meyers, 66, Farmersville, Texas, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. A plea of not guilty was entered by his lawyer and his $5,000 bond was continued.

• Jerry Smith, 56, of Tipp City, theft. He entered a plea of not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.

• Kayla Hewitt, 32, 630 Maxwell Place, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. She pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance.

• Ashley Hickman, 28, of Dayton, aggravated trafficking, illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto grounds of a detention facility and aggravated possession of drugs. She entered a plea of not guilty and bond was set at $50,000.

• Nick Mariano, 40, 1620 Ash Place, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. He was released on a $2,500 bond.

• Charles Swiger, 51, 1506 Grove Court, trafficking in drugs. He entered a plea of not guilty and bond was set at $25,000.

• Erica Karbowski, 30, of Detroit, Michigan, possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. She entered a plea of not guilty and bond was set at $2,500.

• Josh McMasters, 39, 616 1/2 N. Miami Ave., aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. He entered a plea of not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.

• Randall Scott, 51, of Dayton, possession of drugs. He pleaded not guilty and bond was set at $2,500.

• Jennifer Stephens, 34, 301 S. Miami Ave., aggravated possession of drugs and possessing criminal tools. She entered a plea of not guilty and bond was set at $2,500.

• Todd Lowell, 35, 107 S. Wilkinson Ave., Apt. B, domestic violence and criminal damaging. He pleaded not guilty, bond was set at $10,000 and a no contact order was issued.

• Michael Engle, 32, 229 S. Brooklyn Ave., possession of drugs. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He entered a plea of not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.

• Justin Williams, 36, 1505 Spruce Ave., three counts of telecommunications harassment. He entered a plea of not guilty, was released on his own recognizance and a no contact order was issued.

• Michael Stotler, 27, 646 Marilyn Drive, forgery and aggravated possession of drugs. He entered a plea of not guilty and bond was sest at $2,500.

• Dwayne Valentine, 37, 2202 Broadway Ave., possession of drugs and tampering with evidence. He entered a plea of not guilty and a $12,500 bond was continued.

• Michael Ceyler, 54, 204 Doorley Road, Apt. F, assault. He entered a plea of not guilty, bond was set at $5,000 and a no contact order was issued.
