Sidney Rotary sell ‘Pinwheels for Peace’

SIDNEY — The Rotary Club of Sidney is creating awareness for world-wide peace through a “Pinwheels for Peace” campaign. Rotarians are selling pinwheels that will be displayed at the Shelby County Courthouse Square on Saturday, Sept. 9 through 25.

The Pinwheels for Peace will create a visual and a gentle reminder to be part of the solution peacefully. The cost per pinwheel is $8 and can be purchased on Sept. 9 at the Rotarian Pancake Breakfast tent located on the Downtown Square between 8 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. or by contacting Sara Barr at [email protected] or Missy Bennett at [email protected].

As a partner for peace, the Rotary Club of Sidney will help their local Rotary District 6670 in an effort to be a peacebuilder district. The sponsorship of a pinwheel will provide district designated funds to enable up to 100 fellows from around the world to study peace and conflict resolution at one of the six Rotary Peace Centers. Nearly 1,000 alumni of the peace centers program are actively contributing to global peacebuilding through grassroots initiatives to policy development at the United Nations and World Bank.

The final presentation of the Pinwheels for Peace will be on Monday, Sept. 25., at the Rotary Shelter House located on Bertsch Hill in Tawawa Park in recognition for International Day of Peace being acknowledged on Thursday, Sept. 21.
