Country Fest posts contest winners

MARIA STEIN — Country Fest organizers have announced winners in the various contests that were part of the recent 2017 festival.

Jeff Wolters won the $2,000 grand prize. The Rev. Ken Shroeder took home the $500 second prize; Charlene Steineman, the $300 third prize; Phil Luebke, the $200 fourth prize; and Alfred Luttmer, the $100 fifth prize. Karen Schulze, Pat Wehrkamp, Nick Boeckman, Paul Keller and Doris Keiiser each won $50. P.J. Thobe took home the attendance prize.

Roam Mitchell turned in the best time in the Mercer Health 5K run/walk: 17:28.4. The fastest female was Kelsey Broering with a time of 21:34.5. They youngest runner, who was 6, finished in 173rd place. The oldest runner, who was 76, finished in 216th place. There were 295 runners in the race.

Alex Keller, 8, Thomas Winner, 9, Gavin Thobe, 10, Mitchell Ranly, 11, Aiden Eifert, 12, and Josh Kuether, 13, run their divisions of the punt, pass and kick competition.

The antique division of the Poor Boys tractor pull was won by Marvin Evers, Duane Evers, Kevin Evers and Dick Heitz. Division I winners were Dan Moeller, Carl Post, Dick Rosenbauer, Chris Heitkamp and Joel Weitzel. Division II winners were Tommy Carr, Kevin Homan, Russ Marchal and Dick Eilerman.

Brady Kessen, 4, Crson Bruns, 5, and Clayton Koesters, 6, were mini-Indy winners.

Cora Schneider, daughter of Jenny and Josh Schneider, won the diaper derby. Chloe Luebke won a gift certificate. Forty-eight babies participated.

Coldwater took first and second place in the quarterback challenge. Marian Local came in third and Fort Recovery, fourth. Eight schools were represented by 15 quarterbacks in the contest.
