Little Miss, Master seeks contestants

BRADFORD — The Bradford Pumpkin Show will host its 13th annual Little Miss and Master Pumpkin pageant, Oct. 11.

The pageant will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the winners will be announced following the parade.

All contestants must be between 2 and 5 as of Oct. 1, 2017, and must be able to walk onto the stage alone. The theme for this year’s pageant is “Red, White and Blue American Heroes.” Contestants should dress as their favorite American heroes, fictional or real. Costumes should include the colors of red, white and blue.

All contestants will be judged on stage in the following categories: appearance, stage presence and poise, originality and crowd response. There will be no advance judging or interviewing of the contestants.

The Little Miss and Master Pumpkin winners will each receive $50 and a trophy. First runners-up will receive $25 and a trophies, and the second runners-up will receive $15 and trophies. There will also be a trophy for the Best Costume in each contest.

All contestants will be invited to ride through Wednesday’s Royalty Parade in their own vehicles. If participating in the parade, they must have their vehicles marked on both sides with the child’s name and be at the Bradford High School at 6:15 p.m. for the parade line-up.

To enter the contest, send a $20, nonrefundable check made payable to the Bradford Pumpkin Show, c/o Kathy Weldy, 426 School St., Bradford, OH 45308, by Sept. 30. Include the child’s name, date of birth, parents’ names, email address and telephone number. Also, include a note of any special interests the contestants may have, such as a favorite cartoon, pet or hobby, and indicate if the child will participate in the parade.

There will also be a Little Miss and Master Pumpkin Float Contest prior to the parade. All floats must be at the Bradford High School parking lot, Wednesday, by 6:15 p.m., for judging. Makers of the Best Float Overall will receive $75 and a trophy; second place will receive $50 and a trophy, and third place will receive a trophy.

The Little Miss and Master Pumpkin winners must ride on the royalty float in the parade, Thursday and Saturday of the 2017 Bradford Pumpkin Show. Float winners are also invited back to participate in these parades. Winners should be at Bradford High School by 6:15 p.m. for the parade line-up, Thursday, and by 3:15 p.m., Saturday.
