NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen Community Improvement Corp. and the Southwest Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce have opened voting in the 10th annual Pumpkin People contest.

Twelve area businesses have made pumpkin creations and local residents can vote for their favorites. The one garnering the most votes will win $100 in chamber gift certificates. The names of three voters will be drawn and they, too, will each win a chamber gift certificate.

The pumpkins are on display at some of the businesses. Others are in Lock One Park at state routes 66 and 274. Photos of all of them are posted in the New Bremen Public Library. People can vote at the library and at some of the participating businesses. Votes must be cast by Thursday, Sept. 21.

The winner will be announced during the New Bremen Pumpkinfest, Sept. 23.

Participating businesses and the themes of their respective pumpkin creations are as follows: the Crown Store, “The Crown Store will blow you away”; PT Service, “Petey’s Pacers”; the Bicycle Museum, “Tom & Jerry”; 17 West, “Chef Hocus & Penny Pocus”; Brookside Laboratories, “Runaway Express”; New Bremen Wagner’s IGA, “Harold the Hungry Caterpillar”; St. Paul’s Church, “Moses Parting the Red Sea”; New Bremen Public Libary, “Winnie the Pooh”; Topsy Turvy Toys, “Making Dreams Come True at Topsy Turvy Toys”; Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, “Where’s Waldo”; Lock One Theater, “Night at the Movies”; and Western Ohio True Value Hardware, no theme listed.
