URBANA — The 11th Annual Simon Kenton Chili Cook-Off Festival will be held Sept. 23 at Monument Square in Urbana.
The festival features live entertainment, contests and children’s activities, including face painting, a bouncy house and assorted games.
The contests include $1,000 for the best chili, a jalapeno eating contest, ‘Suck, Chew and Blow’ contest, best salsa recipe contest and a corn hole tournament. Attendees can vote for their favorite chili by purchasing $1 beads and dropping in the pot of their choice. The winner will receive a “Peoples Choice Chili” trophy.
The Hoopla parade will begin at noon, featuring the Dayton Antioch Shriner’s and their miniature vehicles. Other activities include sampling contestants chili and a dunk tank. The “Indoorfins” will be playing at 6 p.m.
Other food will be available from food trucks.
