DAYTON — Dayton Opera has announced that auditions for the 2016-2017 Dayton Opera Chorus will be Sept. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Sept. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave., Kettering.

Singers auditioning for this professional, paid chorus are asked to prepare two pieces: one in a foreign language and one in English. The selections do not have to be from the opera repertoire. Auditions are open to all voices, and an accompanist will be provided at no charge. Artistic Director Thomas Bankston and Chorus Master Jeffrey Powell will hear all auditions. Auditions must be scheduled in advance. To schedule an audition or receive more information, call 937-224-3521, ext. 1091.

Those selected for Dayton Opera Chorus may perform in one or more of the company’s 2016-2017 Excite Season productions, including, Ruggero Leoncavallo’s “I Pagliacci” (Nov. 11 and 13), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio” (Feb. 17 and 19), and Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” (May 19 and 21). All performances will be on the Mead Stage of the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton.
