HIV test provider changes

SIDNEY — The Sidney-Shelby County Health Department (SSCHD) has announced that its free and confidential HIV testing will now be provided by Allen County Public Health.

This will replace the walk-in clinic that had been provided by the Clark County Combined Health District.

The changes are due to restructuring of the grant funded program.

In the past, Clark County health staff visited Shelby County twice a month to provide testing to clients who could walk-in without previously making appointments.

Now, an individual who wishes to receive testing will need to contact Cassie Hambleton of Allen County Public Health at 419-228-4457, ext. 131, and complete a brief phone survey to determine eligibility for the free test.

If the caller is eligible, testing will be scheduled at the SSCHD. It will be given by staff of Allen County Public Health and that agency will track and monitor all information and results of the tests. Results will be available within 30 minutes of testing and will remain confidential.

Allen County Public Health is providing the service. Sidney-Shelby County Health Department is providing the space.

For information, call Teri Greve, Shelby County infectious disease nurse, at 498-7249.
