VERSAILLES — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the Winery at Versailles is recognizing it in a big way.
They are launching the Hope Whispers campaign for another year. In the past, this campaign has been so successful in providing much needed assistance to local cancer patients that they are continuing the fight.
For the entire month of October, The Winery at Versailles will honor a special person each day. This person will be a past or present fighter or survivor of breast cancer, and will be nominated by the community.
The winery will randomly draw one honoree per day and feature their story on Facebook. They will also donate $10 in their name to the Wayne Health Care Cancer Center.
The first honoree appeared Oct. 1 and they will continue to post one each day for the entire month.
Dave Nosker of Creative Labels in Troy, Ohio, donated the labels for the Hope Whispers wine. For every bottle of Hope Whispers that the winery sells, they will donate $2 to the Wayne Heath Care Cancer Center. The other wineries the company owns in Pennsylvania will also donate $2 of every bottle of Hope Whispers wine that sells to a health center there.
In past years, Wayne Heath Care Cancer Center has been able to purchase gas cards for re-occurring weekly treatments, camisoles for post-op patients, guest meals during chemotherapy treatments and a survivor resource guide; all of the little things that insurance doesn’t pay for.
Lisa Heidenreich, director of marketing for Winery at Versailles, said this campaign has been going on for five to six years now. To date, all their locations have raised close to $50,000.
She said at first they honored family members and friends that had cancer, but decided to expand the campaign into what it is today.
The campaign will be accepting honoree submissions for all types of cancer, not just breast cancer. Nominee information may be submitted via email: [email protected]
